Cooperation

The project is implemented in close cooperation with the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH), a government agency under the Norwegian Ministry of Health and Care Services (www. https://www.fhi.no/en/). The NIPH is responsible for the dissemination of knowledge and systematic reviews to enhance good public health efforts and health services, as well as working to improve the health of the population. As a national competence institution, the NIPH is also concerned with physical and mental health, environmental factors, the abuse of substances, including tobacco, and health-promoting and preventive measures in the population.

The NIPH provides knowledge relevant to public health and health and care services. Such evidence base supports the Institute in its activities involving emergency preparedness, counselling, health analysis, research, and services.

At the national level, our Department is closely involved with:

  • the editorial board of Addictology in Prevention and Treatment Practice, the only professional peer-reviewed journal dedicated to addictions as well as risk behaviour in general; see https://www.aplp.cz/,
  • the editorial board of Addictology, an international indexed scholarly journal which publishes peer-reviewed scientific papers dealing with risk behaviour, as well as both medical and non-medical disciplines related to the issue; see https://adiktologie-journal.eu/,
  • the international conference Primary Prevention of Risk Behaviour, held regularly since 2004 in Prague, the agenda of which features a wide range of risk behaviour-related issues relevant to both the international and national contexts; see http://www.pprch.cz/,
  • the Addictology Award national conference, held regularly since 2006 and aimed at promoting research and development in the field of both substance and non-substance addictions; see http://www.cena-adiktologie.cz/cs/

Internationally, we work closely with two prominent organisations concerned with addiction. They are:

  • The International Society of Substance Use Professionals (ISSUP) associating organisations concerned with substance use prevention and treatment and the rehabilitation of people who use drugs; see https://www.issup.net/
  • The International Consortium of Universities for Drug Demand Reduction (ICUDDR), a membership organisation dedicated to addiction-related issues; see https://www.icuddr.com/
